We celebrated our 6th anniversary in Belgium's capital city. This was our first train ride from Antwerp Central Station, it took about 35 minutes. Both kids had colds so we left late and quickly abandoned our over ambitious tourist goals. We spent all our time in a five block radius of the train station. Here we were amazed by the Grand Market. Each European city seems to have a square where the town's important buildings, festivals, and markets were located. There was a folk festival going on, so we grabbed a table and enjoyed the music. The beer of choice for me was a cherry beer. It was delicious, very different from any fruit beer I have ever tasted. Brussels is famous for fruit beers. There was a store called "Beir temple" with over two hundred kinds of beer. Each Belgian beer has its own glass, not style of glass but its actual own glass with the beers name on it.
Liam really liked seeing the "little boy going potty naked" or as Belgians call it the Manneken-Pis. Replica's are all over the city. The actual statue seems to be dressed every day. He has over 800 outifts, including an Elvis outfit.
Looking forward to going back!
Ahh, Manneken Pis! You guys are making me remember so much about Europe that I had stashed away somewhere far off in my brain. :)
