Amsterdam

First impression: wow this is so much more than pot and the red light district!

Second impression: wow there are so many bikes!

We had a great time in Amsterdam. The buildings and canal systems are amazing. We never even saw the red light district (not that we were not curious just did not get there). We did smell the pot from places like The "Magic" coffee shops.

We also never saw all the museums the city had to offer - Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Ann Frank house. Hugh and I have resigned ourselves to the fact that we will most likely leave Europe as uneducated about the history and the arts arts as we came. Our children are just not the right ages. Instead we spent the time taking boats down the canal and getting on and off to explore various parts of the city like the markets and parks. The boat rides also gave you a great view of the architecture and the house boats. There are around 2500 house boats with some being quite elaborate.

Keegan came with us and even took a boat ride! We have found many pet friendly hotels in Europe. He is becoming quite the travelling dog!

There is a pic of the canal from our hotel room and also Brenna, Keegan and I looking out the window of our room. Video is of a parade on the canal :).

Looking forward to going back to Amsterdam with some adults - offer is out there for any takers! It took us under two hours to get there.
