Belgian Bloggin: Easter

We celebrated another major holiday in Belgium. Needless to say, it was not hard to find chocolate for the Easter baskets! In Belgium, the children actually search for chocolate eggs and do not color eggs like we do in the USA. They also do not do Easter baskets, but that of course did not change our plans. I had packed our baskets from the US and we were lucky to have my mom personally deliver the dye for the eggs.

We started off our celebration with an Easter Egg hunt organized by the APC which is an English speaking parents group we belong to. It was a beautiful day in a park near our apartment. The children all had fun searching for eggs, eating chocolate and playing in the park. The parents all enjoyed a beer at the end. Good time for all!

Easter day was spent opening Easter baskets, playing in the park, and going out for dinner. It was the first time my mom was not cooking for a holiday in a very very long time! Look how relaxed she is in the picture below :). The best part about the restaurant was that it has a playroom upstairs with babysitters to watch and even feed the kids if you wanted. You can watch the kids on a monitor while you eat. Hugh and I talked the whole meal about how we could being this to the US - but are pretty sure insurance would be the deal breaker.
