London

Four day weekend? Let's go to London.  That is the beauty of this experience.  You do not have to plan trips for months and you can squeeze things in over a holiday weekend.

London was great.  I loved the way historic sites and modern day life are intertwined.  It was also nice to be able to read the signs and get coffee to go!

We took our car with us on the ferry from Calais, France to Dover, England.  Ferry is well organized and very comfortable.  We happen to have some bad weather, worst rain in 50 years kind of bad weather, so the one hour trip turned into a 3 hour tour (that joke was lost on my Belgian co-workers).  Video shows rough waters, happy kids, and a queasy mother.

Cliffs of Dover - almost worth the ride

London in Pictures

Riding in Style - Double Decker Bus

The London Eye (built for Millennium Celebration)

Big Ben, Parliament

Tower Bridge

Tower of London  - Model - too big too show!  Best part for me was seeing all the Royal Crowns and Jewels, no pics allowed

Prince Liam inspected his Towers, people actually took pictures of him

London at Night was stunning

Our hotel was right near Abbey Road

A great time was had by all.  It was wonderful to be able to share it with my mom.  Special note to my Brenna - when you read this many years later, remind me to tell you why London was the last time I let you on an escalator until you were a teenager :)
