Flying with Our Children

This post is totally out of order since I am behind on some other things, but I decided to write it while it is still fresh.  We just got back from our NJ visit.

Big question:  How did it go flying with a tantrum prone two year old and a loud three year old?

Answer:  I love you all but do not want to be on a long flight again for some time!

The big event:  Brenna had a 30 minute tantrum at the end of the flight.  I made a huge mistake and tried to shift her position and she was freaked out when she woke up.  She had only slept for 1 hour, falling asleep at midnight US time.  She was thrashing, hitting, screaming and throwing.  Hugh sat in the bathroom with her until our militant flight attendant yelled at me to get them out and seated for landing.  She was not wrong for telling me that, but very rude in the way she spoke to us the whole flight.

Other background:  In general my kids do not sleep on these flights, on the way to NJ the flight was  an 8 hour day flight and they stayed awake the whole time.  It was exhausting to keep them entertained with movies; Ipods; sticker books, potty visits, etc.  We even let Brenna sit on a stranger's lap for 20 minutes because it made her happy!  Liam did not fall asleep on the flight back to Belgium until after 10.  All that though seems like heaven after having to be those people with the crazy child.  Luckily it did not happen until the cabin lights were on and breakfast was served.

Glimpse of Brenna's will (hopefully this will serve her well later in life):  After we landed, she was good as gold.  We came home and put the kids in PJs and declared it a couch/movie day.  It was about 3 am US time.  Everyone fell asleep except Brenna.  She stayed up until 9 am US time, with one hour sleep all night.  We were home for 6 hours before she passed out - and I mean literally.  Check this video out!
