Our cruise set sail from Barcelona. I am happy that we were able to spend some extra time in this city. Beautiful buildings, lots to see, very clean, easy to get around, and of course great food. Our hotel was close to the famous street called La Rambla. La Rambla is a tree lined 1.2 km street full with a festive tourist atmosphere (street vendors, performers, and all the works). Strolling this street and the nearby Gothic quarter was a nice way to spend a few hours.
At the base of La Rambla is the Placa de Catalunya. This square was popular with our kids because of the pigeons. A little bird seed and you could be surrounded by 50 pigeons!
Next stop was La Sagrada Familia.

Construction began on this on this church in 1882. The design was created by the artist Gaudi and the church was only a quarter complete upon his death in 1926. It is still under construction based on his original plans. It is about 50% there and relies on private donations to continue building.
We spent the evening at Magic Fountain of Montjuic. It is set at the base of the National palace. Every night the fountain becomes a musical light show. Huge hit with the kids, especially Brenna.
Our last port was also in Spain. It was on the island of Majorca. We could see why this island is very popular for European sun seekers. Pretty beaches, nice squares, and an overall relaxing atmosphere. We left the day up to the kids. So despite our hints to go to the beach, we went to the Palma Aquarium. Majorca
