Summer Fun

We are excited to have a full summer in Belgium.  We have lots of trips planned, visitors coming, and are also looking forward to enjoying all Antwerp has to offer.   The temperature is a bit milder than we are used to, temps average in the 70's.  It also stays light out till 10:30 at night.  It can really throw your internal clock off.  Thanks to my mom for making the black out curtains!

Here is how the summer has started for us -

Summer officially kicked off for us after Liam's last day of school.  The kindergarten class put on a small play to the book "Going on a Bear Hunt".  Liam now begins his schedule of camps.  The big difference is that the other children will be Belgian, so they will speak Flemish.  He has shown to be pretty adaptable, so I am sure he will have fun.

The start of the summer coincided with the Antwerp Beer Festival. Tents served hundreds of Belgian beers (in their proper glasses of course).  Some of the more unique sampling for me were a Mango beer,  a champagne beer, and a fruit beer on the rocks.

Brenna decided that she needed a new look for the summer.

Liam fulfilled his long time dream of going to a Dinosaur Museum.  It was a boys day out to Brussels with our friends Craig and Colin.

And of course a summer kick off would not be complete without a picnic and a trip to the beach.

We also saw Cars 2.  It was Brenna's first movie.  She had to take a few intermissions and kept climbing several rows ahead of us.  Her next movie will not be for at least another 6 months.  They offered the movie in Original Language (English) or with Dutch dubbing.  Since most Belgian kids go for the Dutch, we were lucky to be in an almost empty movie theater.  Cultural moment - we grabbed a popcorn that had sugar on it and not salt.  Just not the same for me, but the kids ate it.
