The second port on the cruise was Civitavecchia. We took a one hour cruise bus to Rome. With just over 5 hours in the City, we had to really hustle to make the most of it. Lot of walking, some public transport and pizza on the go. It was all worth it. Every time we turned a corner we saw something spectacular. Looking forward to going back some day.

A traditional legend holds that if visitors throw a coin into the fountain, they are ensured a return to Rome. An estimated 3,000 euros are thrown into the fountain each day. The money has been used to subsidize a supermarket for Rome's needy.

Random Rome finding - when ordering a slice of pizza they cut your piece with a scissor and then weigh it. Another random thing about Rome is that all of the beautiful fountains are also functional since they have drinkable water. Bring your water bottle over to this fish and save a few euro! |
